The Alrashdan family were the first Syrian family to be resettled in Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.). Basel was scared at first to come to Canada but now he considers himself Canadian-Syrian and is proud to be in Canada. The Alrashdans are some of the 250 Syrian refugees that have been settled into P.E.I. by the government as part of the 33,000 Syrians that are being integrated nationwide. The Alrashdans receive $1957 per month to cover all of the bills, petrol, food, internet service and rent.
